In Russia they did an experiment. They put a person on ECG, brain scan, etc. and when he was about to die; they photographed him using Kirlian photography. Just for the cause of science you could do that! This person agreed that you can photograph me dying using Kirlian photography, and they did this.

It showed the person’s aura naturally around his body. This was in a big science conference; science and religion conference;, and different scientists were showing how they have been studying these types of things.

So the instruments showed how the heartbeat stopped, the brain waves stopped, the body was clinically dead, but the aura was still there! After about 5 seconds after being clinically dead, the aura lifted up over the body, stayed there for about 12 seconds and then went off.

According to the Bhagavad Gita ,we have two bodies; a gross and a subtle body and the atma or the living force is connected to the subtle body. When the gross body dies, the living force goes with the subtle body which will include the aura and goes on to it’s next birth which is decided by higher natural laws.

So the Russians’ experiments would seem to support or substantiate the Vedic version.
