– Spiritual Life: Like a Razor’s Edge!

09.20.12

Prabhupada says, ‘It’s like someone is shaving with a straight edge razor, and they’re a little careless, they can easily cut themselves’.

So spiritual life is like a razor’s edge: just that takes little bit of bodily identification. a little bit of mental concoction and we can get off the track, and the harvest won’t get back home in this life , maybe in a future life we will get a chance, nothing is lost.

But we want to bring the harvest back home in this life time; this is the special chance that Lord Caitanya is giving us…that we can bring home the harvest in this lifetime.

Prabhupada promised: “Chant your Sixteen Rounds, follow the Four Principles, engage in service to Guru and Krsna your whole life, you will go back to Godhead…That’s the yajna to bring the harvest home.”

- Kali Yuga: The LORD doesn’t assert Himself!

06.10.09

In India sometimes you have these impostors who claim to be God. Somebody in South India now was claiming to be Kalki. People said Kalki is not supposed to come for four hundred twenty-eight thousand years; you are a little bit out of schedule. [laughter] He said, “Well, I may not be Kalki, but I am still Narayana”. Then they questioned that. “Well, whatever you say, but I am Bhagavan.”

So here we get the blessings cheap. You want the maha blessings from him, you have to pay five lakhs of rupees. Then he’ll give you a special drink that makes you go mad for three days. I don’t know what that drink is, it might be a controlled substance that might not get through the American or Canadian customs. So these kinds of people are doing their tricks. That’s why in Kali-yuga the Lord doesn’t assert himself because if he asserts, then everyone will say, “I am Bhagavan; I will give you a blessing.” Make up some decoction of cactus or something, who knows what or some belladonna or something. Give somebody a little shot glass and wipe him out, make a little money, a lot of money.

So we had also in Bengal one person that claimed to be an avatara of Lord Caitanya. He said he was a descendent and he would sit on the stage and smoke cigarettes. He would put his foot out and everybody would come and touch his foot. He would give mass initiations. He said you don’t need the scripture because I am here now. Don’t bother referring to the scripture. People touched his foot and they felt a deadly cold freezing feeling coming over them. Maybe they were losing all their good karma.

Then the person died and they put his body on a big slab of ice. The neighbours complained, why are you not burying or burning the body, he’s dead. They said, no he’s not dead, he’s in nirvikalpa-samadhi, he’s in a special profound samadhi. So why are you keeping his body on ice? Well, he’s very hot, so we’re keeping him cool.

Then they gave a half price sale on all his buttons, get rid of the stock quick. Finally the police made a raid and found there was a look alike of him, but he was growing his beard, it was not quite as long as the dead so called avatara’s beard. They were obviously planning to do a switch, but they got caught before they could do it. These things are going on. I could tell you so many, but you know the Bhaktivinod Thakur one. What was that? Which baba? We know that story. He kept the power in his hair.

Even although it says in scripture that the Lord does not assert himself, still so many are asserting. Lord Caitanya did not assert, but for his own associates, he revealed to them, especially Advaita Gosai, that “I am the person that you have done your tapasya to bring.”

- The Power of ‘Hare Krishna’!

05.18.09

In the Siva Purana, the name is mentioned with the syllables. Lord Siva said these two syllables ‘Krish’…’Na’.. these are the reservoir of all pleasure. The all attractive form of the Lord. These two syllables, are param brahma, and they are equal to 3000 times chanting the name of Vishnu, the sahasra-naam of Vishnu.

If you chant 3 times… or if you chant Hare Krishna once… the one name of Krishna has the same effect…That these names are specifically given… There are so many names given, and by chanting those specific vibrations, one gets delivered.

In the Srimad Bhagvatam, it says even if one circumstantially says that vibration he gets delivered. Accidentally if someone says that vibration…

There was one devotee of Lord Caitanya, he would regularly go to one Muslim magistrate and request him to chant “Hare Krishna”. But he would always avoid. but one day he said, “Alright, alright…Tomorrow I will chant Hare Krishna”. Hariiii Booool…..Hariiii Booool…..Hariiii Booool….Hariiii Booool…. “You have already chanted..you have already said the name of Krishna..you’ve begun..now dont stop.go on chanting..you have already delivered by accidentally chanting it. So go on chanting Hare Krishna…Hare Krishna…Krishna Krishna…Hare Hare…Hare Rama…Hare Rama…Rama Rama…Hare Hare…”

- Nrsimha Nectar 06: Nrsimhadev in Navadweep

05.12.09

There are many different Nrsinga temples, in, especially in south India. Ofcourse, here we have our Nrsingapalli, where the Lord Nrsinga was flying over Navadweep then he landed in Nrsingapalli, and he wasn’t approachable after killing Hiranyakashipu, but here he became very approcahable.

So all the devas built cottages around Nrsingadev’s, build Him a cottage and they were serving Him, giving Him bogha and faning and doing all kinds of personal services. So here in Navadweep dham, the Lord is accessable.

And ofcourse when Murari Gupta was chanting the Vishnu Sahasranam, when he got to Nrsingadev, Lord Caitanya got in the mood of Lord Nrsingadev, ran out with a stick, “Where are the demons?!! Where are the demons, I’ll kill them all!!

People were seeing the huge form of Lord Caitanya with a stick, crying He was going to kill demons and then they all started running. Then Lord  Caitanya when He saw them running, he came back to normal consciousness, then He told Murari Gupta that, “I scared all those people!”. He (Murari gupta) said, “No, just by seeing You in that mood they were all liberated.

So, Lord Caitanya manifested in Mayapur, in this mood of ‘looking for the demons’, and somehow our Nrsingadev, Sthanu Nrsinga, when He comes out from the column and He is looking for the demons!
